David W. Stecher, National Practice Leader - Executive Benefits Consulting, NFP

David leads the consulting practice for total plan management in executive benefits of both NFP Retirement and sister company Retirement Plan Advisory Group. His focus is to drive efficiencies for both plan sponsors and participants in four key areas:

  •  Best practices plan design
  •  Plan funding, cost controls and value generation
  •  Education and communication
  •  Fluid integration across the administrative platform

As the go-to resource in nonqualified plans for the more than 500 independent member-advisors under RPAG, David is instrumental in teaching members business growth strategies. Before joining the firm in 2010, Dave served as Executive Vice President at Retirement Capital Group, tax and auditing accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick, EVP and head of West Coast operations for AXA Advisors’ Executive Benefits Group, specializing in mid-sized companies.

Throughout his admirable career, he has continued to deepen his expertise with a wide range of certifications: CPA (inactive), CFP, CLU, ChFC, and he holds his Series 6, 7, 63, 65 and 24 securities licenses. David’s alma mater is the University of Delaware, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and, later, Widener University in Philadelphia, where he studied for his Master’s degree in Taxation. He is a prolific writer on industry issues, and the past chair of numerous civic organizations. David resides in Coronado, California with his wife Linda. When not scuba diving or skiing, the family enjoys the foothills of Tuscany or rain forests of Costa Rica.
